Karen Man Receives Prosthetic Services from the Prostheses Foundation
On 27 February 2026, the Prostheses Foundation of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother provided prosthetic services to a 38-year-old Karen man who works as a palm, coconut and rubber plantation farmer. He suffered a high-voltage electrical accident that resulted in the loss of both legs above the knee nine months ago, leaving him with a mobility disability and causing significant hardship in his daily life and occupation. The patient received assistance from Mab Amarit Church, which coordinated and supported his travel from his home province of Chumphon to receive prosthetic services at the Foundation in Chiang Mai. Physicians, prosthetists, and prosthetic technicians from the Foundation conducted assessments of his residual limbs and overall readiness in order to design prostheses suited to his physical condition and functional needs. Although losing both legs presents major challenges, encouragement from his family, community, and supporting organizations—together with the Foundation’s provision of prosthetic legs free of charge—has given him the opportunity to stand and begin walking training once again. This marks an important step toward returning to daily life and restoring hope for future employment and self-reliance in supporting himself and his family. The Prostheses Foundation is committed to assisting amputees regardless of race, religion, or social status, enabling them to regain quality of life, human dignity, and sustainable independence.
