Practice for walking with a prosthesis 

   1. Balance exercise should begin as soon as you can sit up by balancing in a sitting position on the bed and  by standing straight while gripping a chair as support.

      

   2. As soon as you can balance well while standing, practice hopping.You should be able to go short distances this way without crutches or a wheel chair in order to increase stability and reduce fear of falling.

      

   3. Crutch walking should begin as soon as possible to avoid too much wheel chair use  which could cause contracture. First strengthen the muscles used to walk with axillary crutches.

      

   4. Stump exercise.

   5. Walking training with aids forearm crutch or walker.
