| 1. General bodily exercises include complete range of motion of all limb joints for20-30 minutes, repeated twice | |
| daily and arm strengthening for crutch walking.These should be done under the supervision of a physical therapist. | |
| 2. Exercises to prepare the stump consist of resistance exercises, either with weights or a physical therapist | |
| providing resistance, in order to strengthen the stump so that the amputee will walk with a good and | |
| safe gait. | |
